Frequently asked questions
If your question is specific to your health or circumstances, please call the practice so we can guide you appropriately.
Call the practice and briefly describe the concern or service you are looking for. We will help determine the most appropriate next step.
Dr. Guiahi provides limited early obstetric services, including viability scans, but does not provide ongoing prenatal care or delivery services.
The practice accepts CenCal Health/Medi-Cal because CenCal Health is a publicly governed, nonprofit, community-based health plan whose mission of expanding access, advancing health equity, and improving the well-being of local patients closely aligns with our values. As a small independent practice, we do not have the negotiating power of a hospital system or large medical group. Commercial insurance contracts can impose reimbursement and administrative requirements that are not sustainable for a practice of our size and can divert time and resources away from patient care. We have therefore chosen not to contract with commercial insurance plans so we can remain independent and keep clinical decisions and patient relationships at the center of care. Patients with commercial insurance may pay out of pocket. Patients with a PPO plan may also request a superbill to submit to their insurer for possible out-of-network reimbursement.
A superbill is an itemized document showing the services provided, relevant diagnosis and procedure codes, the date of service, and the amount paid. It is not a bill or a guarantee of reimbursement. After paying the practice, patients with PPO coverage may submit the superbill to their insurance company by following their plan's claim-submission instructions. The insurance company—not the practice—determines whether a service is covered and how much, if anything, it will reimburse based on the patient's specific contract, deductible, coinsurance, and out-of-network benefits. Every plan is different, so patients should contact their insurer before the visit to ask about out-of-network coverage, claim requirements, their deductible, and any exclusions or prior-authorization requirements.
The cost of services depends on your individual needs and recommended care plan. Initial consultations are $450. This fee reflects not only your dedicated time with the provider, but also the clinical and administrative staff, care coordination, and office resources required to provide safe, attentive, high-quality care. Any additional services and their costs will be discussed with you in advance.
Yes. A separate pre-procedure consultation can be scheduled to review pain-relief options and develop an individualized plan. This consultation is a billable visit, and consultation fees or applicable insurance cost-sharing may apply. Depending on your needs and the procedure, options may include local numbing blocks, TENS support, oral analgesia, and minimal sedation with Nitrous Oxide.
The practice can confirm what is needed when following up. If relevant, it is helpful to have identification, insurance information, a medication and allergy list, prior records, and your questions available.
